About

Understanding Lower Back Pain

Lower back pain is one of the most common reasons people seek chiropractic care. It is typically caused by muscle strain, joint dysfunction, disc issues, or prolonged poor posture.

Occasional stiffness often resolves on its own, but pain that persists, limits movement, or doesn't improve with rest is a signal to get evaluated.

Our Approach

How We Evaluate Lower Back Pain

Your first visit starts with a full history and a physical exam, including orthopedic and range-of-motion tests to identify what's driving your pain. Most lower back pain can be evaluated and treated without imaging.

If your symptoms, exam findings, or response to care suggest something that needs a closer look, Dr. Demsky will recommend imaging or refer you to the appropriate physician or specialist.

Seek immediate medical attention (call 911 or go to the ER) for sudden loss of bladder or bowel control, progressive weakness or numbness in both legs, fever with back pain, or back pain following significant trauma — these can indicate a medical emergency that chiropractic care is not appropriate for.
